Walking through Grief
We are not experts but we have walked this journey since 2021.
We are here to walk alongside you through grief. If you have lost a child, we hope that some of our shared insights and experiences may offer comfort. Above all, we hope to connect with you and support you as you navigate your loss.
If you feel like you are barely making it through today but begin to fear how you will make it through life without your child, you are not alone.
Don’t focus on the future. Focus on getting through today.
Jesus tells us “…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own”. Matthew 6:34
When You Can’t See the Future without them…
Find an outlet
It may be difficult to talk to your immediate family who is also dealing with their grief. Find someone else who you trust that will let you vent and talk. This could be a close friend, a counselor, a pastor, or if you don’t have anyone, write it down in a journal. Journaling is a productive outlet to get your thoughts out of your head.
Release your emotions
Whether your release comes from crying, yelling, groaning, or some other form, don’t bottle it up. In the early stages, let out your emotions every time they come to the surface. If you are around others and you don’t feel comfortable, excuse yourself to a private area but let them out.
Don’t forget self care
You are not sleeping or eating. That is normal in the early stages. But going days and weeks without food or rest is not sustainable. Sleep when you can. Take naps. Eat small amounts of food and stay hydrated. Running on empty physically and emotionally is a destructive combination.
Take one day at time
This grief journey is not a sprint. It’s a life time. I’m convinced there will never be a year that I won’t miss my child. Take one day at a time. If you have a spouse or other children, they need you and you need them. Don’t shut them out. Ask God to help you and He will! God will help you one day at a time.
